Three words that come to mind for our July 18th meeting are; insects, vocal parenting, and laughter. What a mix! The last one is always part of our meetings, but that’s what keeps me coming back. The theme was Insects and our first time Toastmaster, Paul, did Great!! Wait we are not using the word great anymore at Power Speakers… he did… fantastic!! We had a guest fill in as timer and a newer member, Randy, did the General Evaluator position. Can we all say that we are metamorphosing into better speakers? Colleen you can mark me down for +1 for the use of the word of the day, metamorphosis. We had two speakers Lorraine and Kim. Lorraine’s speaking skills definitely motivate me to become a better speaker, while Kim’s Vocal Parenting speech provided us with insight into her style of parenting, which includes the whisper threat. Our table topics allowed us to practice our speaking skills and answer questions like: Can insects hear music? and Do insects communicate?
I believe our meeting was a success and cannot wait for Aug 15, 2012 for our next Summer Meeting, the theme for the evening will be Impromptu. Members will randomly draw roles for the meeting! Hope to see you all next meeting! Blog written by Jessica K

Before handing over the President role to Katrina, I wanted thank everyone for making our 2011/2012 year with the Power Speakers an incredible success. Not only did we finish up the year with 26 members, we also achieved 10 of 10 goals for the Toastmasters Distinguished Club Program! Congratulations to:
Special thank you goes out to the past executive for volunteering their time to meet, plan, organize, and keep the club on track. Without their dedication we wouldn’t have been successful. Good luck to the new executive- I know we are in good hands for the upcoming year with such a keen bunch. My last note of appreciation goes out to the members who all worked hard to set and achieve goals whether it was winning the Bull Thrower award, giving speeches, evaluation, educationals, or throwing an awesome year end potluck. Hope you all take time to relax and enjoy the summer weather. See you all September 5th! Colleen Some Powerspeakers achievement photos...
