We had a fun “Hat” themed meeting last week. Paul was really creative and brought hats for everyone in the club including our guests. Hats infused every part of the meeting from the introductions, to the meeting roles and to an exciting part of the meeting, the table topics. For our table topics Susan prepared impromptu questions about hats, which got some interesting answers! Our guest won best table topics speaker that evening, she definitely was the queen and we could all picture her jewel-encrusted sombrero.

Come join us for more meetings! Our themes change week to week. Guests are always welcome. See our home page for meeting details.

Our Holiday Celebration

2/19/2013

The Powerspeakers Club celebrated its annual potluck and gift exchange and what fun was had! It's amazing what wonderful, eclectic food our group contributes to each and every potluck. There was so much food and no one left hungry. After dinner, we held a gift exchange where each person was asked to bring a re-gift item from their home. A name was selected to start the festivities and this person chose a gift, opened it, then pulled a name from a hat to give it to. This was our holiday variation of table topics whereby the 'giver' of the gift had to speak for one and a half minutes and explain to the 'recipient' why this was perfect  for them. We had so many laughs at the gifts and more importantly at the explanations. Our club typically shares many laughs, but tonight it was ten-fold!

After the gift exchange, we sang some Christmas carols re-worked into Toastmaster spoofs and had more laughs.

All in all, it was a very fun evening full of great food, fun activities and warm and welcoming people.
